Job Summary

The Assistant Cook, under the direct supervision of the Lead Cook, assists in the preparation and serving of meals, as well as the cleaning of all food storage, preparation, and service areas. Performs the duties of the Lead Cook in his/her absence.

 

(The Lead Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving attractive, appetizing home and dining room meals which comply with SeniorAge nutritional requirements and health safety regulations.  He/she maintains a clean, safe kitchen, food storage, serving and dining area at all times.  She/he supervises all food service assistants, both paid and volunteer, and cross trains employees in all kitchen positions.  The Lead Cook helps all customers as necessary and understands that he/she is responsible at all times to create a friendly and welcoming hospitality for all customers, volunteers, and employees.  Hospitality is an integral part of this position.)

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write 
  • Experience cooking in smaller groups
  • Basic safe technical skills
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time
